MORE DETAILS

What does the “AR” in AR-15 stand for? Well, none other than America’s Rifle of course! It is our belief at Tactical Consultants the AR-15 is one of the best defensive weapons we have the right to utilize and become proficient with as an armed citizen. The AR-15 rifle has been the most controversial and misunderstood firearm and unfortunately became the “black sheep” for nothing other than to further the anti-gun agenda. There are more than 20 million in circulation in the United States and by far the most popular sporting rifle to date. This course is 8+ hours and will help you better understand the rifle, why it has been so popular for 7 decades and work on the necessary skills to build a strong foundation on firearm manipulation and the fundamentals of marksmanship.

This course will cover the following areas:

  • Understanding the AR-15 and your chosen equipment
  • Zeroing your rifle. For the purposes of the training, we will be utilizing a 50/200 yard zero. Other acceptable zeros are 25 and 36-yard zero. Iron sights, red dot, or LPVO (Low Power Variable Optic) are acceptable. Backup sights with an optic are highly recommended.
  • Fundamentals of rifle marksmanship
  • How to establish a proper foundation and strong “mount” on the rifle
  • Basic up drills (driving basic rifle manipulation) and developing quick sight acquisition
  • How to use your sling properly
  • Mechanical offset/knowing your “holdovers”
  • Reloads
  • Mitigating recoil/rapid strings of fire
  • Malfunctions
  • Predictive Shooting
  • Reactive Shooting
  • Utilizing cover/concealment
  • Introduction to movement and multiple target engagement sequences

Note: Given an 8-hour training format, there may be some advanced skills omitted due to time constraints.
